Accounting Manager

Job Description Checkmate Coatings is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations across a growing multi-location organization. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing bookkeeping and payroll processes, supporting intercompany activity, and producing timely financial reporting for management. The ideal candidate is highly proficient in QuickBooks, understands the accounting needs of multiple entities and locations, and is comfortable owning the accounting process from transaction-level bookkeeping through financial statement preparation and analysis. Key responsibilities include:Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and general ledger activityMaintain accurate financial records across multiple entities and locationsManage accounts payable and accounts receivable processesOversee payroll processing, payroll reconciliations, and related accounting entriesPerform bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliationsRecord and reconcile intercompany transfers, intercompany loans, and other related-party transactionsMaintain appropriate documentation and accounting for transactions between affiliated entitiesManage month-end and year-end close processesPrepare monthly income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reportingReview financial statements for accuracy and identify unusual trends or variancesPrepare management reporting and financial analysis to support operational and strategic decision-makingAnalyze revenue, gross margin, operating expenses, payroll, and other key financial metricsAssist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planningMaintain and improve the company's chart of accounts and accounting processesWork closely with operations and management to ensure transactions are properly coded and reportedCoordinate with external CPAs, tax professionals, insurance providers, payroll providers, and other financial partners as neededAssist with annual tax preparation, audits, and other compliance requirementsDevelop and maintain strong accounting controls and standardized procedures as the company continues to growIdentify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, reporting accuracy, and financial visibilityBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred5+ years of bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management experience preferredStrong working knowledge of QuickBooks OnlineDemonstrated experience managing the full accounting cycleStrong understanding of debits, credits, accrual accounting, and general ledger accountingExperience preparing and reviewing P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statementsExperience with payroll processing and payroll accountingExperience with bank and credit card reconciliationsExperience accounting for intercompany transfers and multi-entity transactionsAbility to manage accounting for multiple companies or business locations simultaneouslyStrong financial analysis skills and ability to explain financial results to non-accounting leadersAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or Google SheetsStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracyAbility to manage deadlines and independently oversee recurring accounting processesStrong organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to identify accounting discrepancies and follow issues through resolutionComfortable working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment where processes continue to evolveStrong written and verbal communication skillsHigh level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial and payroll information Preferred QualificationsExperience working within a multi-location or multi-entity organizationExperience with intercompany accounting and consolidating financial information across entitiesExperience in construction, home services, field services, or another operationally intensive businessExperience with Jobber, Paylocity, Odoo, or similar ERP/operational systemsExperience supporting budgeting, forecasting, KPI reporting, and management-level financial analysisCPA or accounting certification is a plus but not required
